The Careers Team is dedicated to supporting students as they explore their interests, discover their strengths, and plan for life beyond school.
Through our Years 7–12 Careers program, students are provided with opportunities to explore a variety of career and pathway options, develop valuable employability skills, and build the knowledge and confidence needed to make informed decisions
about their future.
Our Careers Program provides students with opportunities to:
• Complete Career Action Plans from Years 7–12 to explore their interests, strengths, values, and future aspirations
while setting personal and career goals.
• Access individual counselling and pathway support to assist with career planning, and exploring further
education,training, and employment options.
• Participate in senior school planning to ensure students select the most suitable pathway and subjects to support
their future goals.
• Engage in post-school planning through guidance on university, TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships, employment,
gap year opportunities, and further training.
• Take part in career education programs and workshops, including guest speakers, industry presentations,
employability skills workshops, resume writing, interview preparation, and career development activities.
• Participate in university student mentoring programs, providing opportunities to connect with current university students, gain insight into tertiary study, learn about university life, and build confidence in pursuing further education.
• Receive regular careers newsletters and updates featuring information on pathway opportunities, open days, scholarships, apprenticeships, traineeships, employment opportunities, and important career-related events.
• Participate in Work Experience and Structured Workplace Learning to gain valuable hands-on experience, develop workplace skills, and explore potential career interests.
• Explore School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs), allowing students to combine school with paid employment and nationally recognised training.
• Attend incursions and excursions that provide students with exposure to universities,
TAFEs, workplaces, industry settings, and career-related events.
• Explore future pathways at the Carwatha Careers Expo, where students and families can connect with
universities,TAFEs, training providers, employers, apprenticeship centres, and community organisations to learn about a
wide range of career and pathway opportunities.
We work closely with employers, training organisations, universities, TAFEs, and community partners to ensure students
are well supported throughout their pathway journey.
Our goal is to equip every student with the confidence, knowledge, and skills to successfully transition into further
education, training, or employment and pursue a pathway aligned with their interests and aspirations.
Students and families are welcome to visit or contact the Careers Team at any time for support and guidance with career planning, subject selection, pathway exploration, tertiary education options, apprenticeships and traineeships, work experience, and post-school opportunities.
