Carwatha has a strong tradition of transition processes that are individualised and nurturing. We pride ourselves on the strong collaboration we have with our local primary schools. In Term 4 of the year before students begin at the college, our staff visit with primary staff to ensure that each child’s learning and social needs are well understood to support a positive start to secondary school.
Year 7s have a designated space in the college in the purpose-built J Block building, that allows for instructional and team-based learning. The students have their lockers indoors and college staff are located in the centre should they need assistance.
Students and their families are welcomed at our Parent Information Night prior to commencing Year 7 where we share our programs, values and initiatives and an opportunity to personally meet key staff. The transition to secondary school is further supported through our Orientation Day in December, as well as targeted orientation and induction activities across the first term of Year 7.
Families are welcomed to contact the college for extra support for their child as they are approaching the transition from primary school to secondary school.
