As we come to the end of another school year, I am incredibly proud to reflect on what has been a highly successful year for Carwatha College P–12, with much to celebrate.
Our VCE results, released this week, demonstrate strong growth across a number of key areas. We recorded a 10% increase in median study scores in both English and Mathematics, along with an increase in the number of students achieving ATARs above 90, 80 and 70. We are also pleased to have outperformed our local schools, including Lyndale Secondary College, Noble Park Secondary College, Nazareth College and Dandenong High School.
For the second year in a row, Carwatha College P–12 has been recognised by the Department as a High Performing School. This ranking reflects strong results across multiple measures, including our Attitudes to School Survey, Parent Opinion Survey and Staff Opinion Survey, all of which were above the state average. It also considers our NAPLAN results, attendance data and overall learning growth.
Student enrolments continue to grow, and we will commence next year with over 700 students. Our community increasingly recognises Carwatha College as a school of choice — a place where students feel safe, happy and connected, and where they achieve strong academic outcomes.
Looking ahead, 2026 will mark the beginning of construction of our new Kindergarten, an exciting development that will allow us to further support and serve our growing community. As always, we continue to reflect on our performance and identify ways to improve, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of our students and families.
I would also like to take this opportunity to farewell several staff members. Eftayla Coskun from our front office will be taking 12 months leave to travel, and she will be greatly missed for her warmth and cheerful personality. We thank Claire Gardener for her contributions over the past two years. Zoe Coleman-Hrissinis and Ingrid Mirtle will also be leaving to start the next chapter of their lives as they begin their families, and we wish them all the very best.
Thank you to our students, staff and families for your ongoing support throughout the year. I wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas and look forward to welcoming you back in the new year.
Principal Pat Mulcahy.

Congratulations to all of Prep C on completing their first year of schooling! What a year it has been. Term 4 has flown by, we have been working extremely hard, learning lots of new things.
In Literacy we have learnt all about searching for and using information and practised summarising stories. We have been doing some wonderful writing about our opinions and experiences. We wrote some fantastic stories about the characters we created.

We can’t wait to see all the fantastic things we will achieve next year! Well done on a fantastic year Prep C!

Here is what Prep1P have loved about 2025 at Carwatha:
Ms Pritchett - Classroom Teacher

What an amazing term this has been in Grade 1A! Our students have been enthusiastic and actively participated in all the activities this term. We are so proud of how hard everyone has been working this year.
This Term we have achieved many things together. We have been building positive relationships and working hard every day on our reading strategies and writing skills. We have also been doing some fantastic work in Maths learning about shapes and understanding measurement.
In addition to all our hard work in the classroom, 1A learned all about water safety and
participated in swimming lessons at Dandenong Oasis. We also had an amazing time practising our dance routine and performing at our primary concert in front of our families and friends. What a fun time we had!
What an eventful term we’ve had! We are excited and looking forward to all the things that we are going to accomplish next year.
Thank you to our parents and families for all your support in all our students’ learning and college activities. We would not have achieved as much without your support.
Mrs Abraham - Classroom Teacher

Grade 2/3 M
It has been a very busy year in the 2/3 unit. Students have been focussing on improving their reading levels and writing stories, information reports and poetry. We have been reading many different texts, nonfiction books to learn about new information and fiction stories to enjoy great literature.
We have enjoyed maths activities to focus on improving our addition and subtraction skills. We have also enjoyed our daily times table challenge, and everyone has improved their automatic responses. Everyone enjoyed learning to measure length, area, volume and capacity using the different types of measurement tools and using all four operations to problem solve.
The Integrated studies topic of Design and Technology has been a real hit so far. Students have been learning about the various design jobs and how they use ideas to create new products. Everyone was extremely excited to design their own T-shirt and packaging for a specific food product. They recognised the importance of design and how everything around us is designed by someone to make our life easier.
We are also madly working on our dance for STOMP. We are ready for the concert, and we have enjoyed all the lessons with Maddy. We learned all the moves for our concert and enjoyed getting our costumes ready for the big day. All students are excited to perform in front of friends and family.

Wow, what an incredible Term 3 it has been for Grade 3/4 R!
We absolutely smashed it at the school athletics – every single one of you gave it your all, and I couldn’t have been prouder cheering you on from the sidelines! Some of you even went on to compete at the district athletics and represented Carwatha College P-12 so brilliantly – what a fantastic achievement!
Book Week was another highlight – your costumes and enthusiasm made the day so special. Who could forget Multicultural Day? The assembly was such a beautiful celebration of the many cultures in our school, and you all embraced it with so much pride and excitement.
This term has been jam-packed with learning, laughter, and incredible experiences. Well done, 3/4 R – you should be so proud of everything you’ve achieved! I can’t wait to see what amazing things we get up to together in Term 4.
Siming with you every day!
Mrs Rozanic - Classroom Teacher

4W Students have been putting in outstanding effort during their STOMP sessions as we prepare for the upcoming school concert, showing growing confidence and enthusiasm with each rehearsal.
Halloween Dress-Up Day added plenty of excitement to the term, with the classroom buzzing as students arrived in a range of creative and colourful costumes. We’ve also been fortunate to enjoy several sunny days, which have given us the chance to take our learning outside, enjoy movement breaks, and make the most of the warm weather.
A big congratulations goes to the 4W students who proudly represented Carwatha College at Regional Athletics—their effort, determination, and sportsmanship were fantastic to see.
Overall, it has been a wonderful Term for 4W, everyone has worked hard to earn their summer break.
Mr Wixon - Classroom Teacher

Term 4 has been a fun filled end to the year. In Literacy, students have refined their persuasive skills by learning different techniques to convince their audience to agree with their point of view or idea. They have practised all of the reading comprehension strategies and applied their understanding of these strategies to different types of texts.
In Numeracy, students have focussed on Shape and Geometry. They did lots of hands-on activities to apply their understanding of 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes and different types of angles.
Gala day was lots of fun and, as usual, our Carwatha Kids made us proud with their enthusiastic participation, teamwork and fantastic sportsmanship.
A lot of practise has gone into making our STOMP dance look amazing for the ‘Dance Around the World with Me’ concert.
Students had a great time at their coding incursion. They learnt all about binary code, had fun with the robots and learnt about all of the different parts of a computer system.
Grade 6’s had a fabulous time on their end of year excursion to Luna Park. They embraced the opportunity to face their fears and go on all of the fun rides. The Spider and The Enterprise were very popular.
5/6B students have worked hard, shown outstanding growth and personal development this year and should be very proud of themselves.

The term began with our swimming program, where students showed resilience, built confidence in the water and demonstrated excellent behaviour throughout each session. They then participated in the Code Masters incursion, engaging enthusiastically in coding and robotics challenges and impressing the instructor with their teamwork and problem-solving.
Our Grade 6 students enjoyed a memorable Graduation Excursion to Luna Park. They displayed maturity, supported one another throughout the day and represented our school proudly.
We also showcased student creativity at the annual Art and Technology Show, where their artworks, digital projects and designs were beautifully presented for families to enjoy.
We concluded the term with the School Concert, where students performed their dances with confidence, energy and commitment. Their hard work during rehearsals shone on stage, making it a wonderful way to finish the year.
Overall, our Grade 5/6 students participated positively in every event and made this a successful and memorable end to the school year.
Ms Edwards - Class Teacher.

Congratulations to all 5/6T students on another fantastic year! Term 4 has been filled with exciting events, impressive learning, and so many memorable moments.
We kicked off the term with our swimming and water safety program, where students developed their confidence in the pool or learnt essential tips for staying safe around water. Students represented Carwatha proudly at Gala Day, showing great teamwork and sportsmanship.
A big highlight of the term was the school concert, where 5/6T performed an energetic Bollywood dance, bringing colour, rhythm, and joy to the stage. We also enjoyed a hands-on Digital Technologies incursion, where students explored coding and interactive problem-solving. To celebrate the end of primary school, our Grade 6 students had a wonderful day out at Luna Park, enjoying rides, laughs, and time with friends.
In Literacy, students completed a powerful persuasive writing unit. Students crafted passionate arguments about real-world issues such as climate change and ocean pollution. They then moved into a narrative unit, learning how to write descriptive and engaging stories with detailed settings and strong character development. Our reading lessons have focused mainly on analysing texts. Students have used Close Reading strategies, revised all comprehension strategies, and expanded their vocabulary.
In Numeracy, students have continued to show fantastic growth. This term, we explored measurement and shape, including perimeter, area, angles, nets, 2D and 3D representations, and real-life applications of these ideas.
As we wrap up the year, we celebrate our wonderful Grade 6 students, who now move on to their secondary school journey. We also wish our Grade 5s the best of luck as they step up as the new leaders of the primary school next year.
Enjoy a well-earned break, stay safe, and thank you for a fantastic year in 5/6T!

Ms Brady - Classroom Teacher

WOW! What a Term we’ve had in the PLC. We started the term with two weeks of swimming lessons at Dandenong Oasis and lots of water safety lessons in the classroom.
We enjoyed another visit to Springvale library, borrowing lots of bilingual and first language books to bring back to school. In the classroom, we have been busy learning about the vocabulary for measurement during maths and all about prepositions and adverbs during our literacy classes. Our focus on sentence structure saw lots of creative pieces being written.
We also read lots of books that required us to find similarities and differences between people, places and objects (compare and contrast). It’s been another busy term, especially with concert rehearsals and performances – superstars, all of them!! It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know these students this year and watching them grow in confidence as their English language skills have developed.

Friendship Garden
‘In a world where you can be anything, be kind’
The Primary students have been helping Mrs McAleer paint a mural in our playground. Although not yet complete, it is well on its way. Every student has shown their commitment to being kind by creating a handprint on the rainbow. Over the holidays, the garden bed in front of the mural will be transformed into a ‘friendship garden’ using funds raised by events run by our parents committee. The message behind the mural and garden is a reminder to us all to be kind. Kind to ourselves, each other, our teachers, parents and all members of our community. In Art class, students had time to reflect on what being ‘kind’ means to them.
Thank you to the time and support provided by our wonderful parents who have made this project possible.

Grade 6 Graduation – Class of 2025
Last night, our Grade 6 Class of 2025 celebrated their graduation. As the final bell rang, students were honoured with a guard of honour from our Primary students — a much-loved tradition that everyone looks forward to in Grade 6.
The graduation ceremony was held in our theatre, where students were presented with their certificates and enjoyed a special presentation reflecting on their journey from Prep to Grade 6, shown on the big screen.
Congratulations to all our graduating Grade 6 students. We wish you every success as you begin your next adventure into secondary schooling — we are so proud of you!

Students have worked hard to complete their studies, participated in extra-curricular programs, and embraced opportunities to engage with peers and teachers. The term has been a fitting conclusion to a year filled with resilience, determination, and personal achievement.

This event showcased the teamwork and enthusiasm of our students. They also enjoyed the Trivia and Puzzle Challenges.
